Gaelic in London

There is more Gaelic in London than you may know about, and the Gaelic Society of London is at its heart.  Founded in 1777, it is the oldest Gaelic Society in existence.

There are regular functions which no Gaelic speaker or lover of Gaelic should miss: a Literary Evening addressed by a prominent writer; the annual Tattie and Herring supper; a Burns Supper with a Gaelic slant; ceilidhs with famous singers and talks by famous speakers.

The Society is also a charity, encourages the learning of Gaelic and encourages piping.

 Membership is open to all.

Gàidhlig ann an Lunnainn

Tha barrachd rudan Gàidhlig a’ dol ann an Lunnainn na shaoileadh tu.  Nan teis-meadhan, bho riamh, tha Comunn Gàidhlig Lunnainn; comunn a chaidh a stèidheachadh anns an ochdamh linn deug.  Is e an comunn Gàidhlig as sine air thalamh.

Gach bliadhna, tha an Comunn a’ cur air adhart tachartasan a bu chòir a bhith air am frithealadh le duine sam bith aig a bheil spèis dhan Ghàidhlig: Feasgar Litreachais, an còmhnaidh le sgrìobhadair cliùiteach; suipeir buntàt’ is sgadan; suipeir Burns le blas Gàidhlig; cèilidhean le seinneadairean ainmeil anns an t-seann nòs; òraidean ùidheil bho luchd-labhairt deas-bhriathrach.

Tha an Comunn a’ brosnachadh’s a’ tacachadh luchd-ionnsachaidh a chànain, agus pìobaireachd cuideachd.

’S e buidheann carthannais clàraichte a th’anns a’ Chomunn agus faodaidh neach sam bith a dhol ’na bhall, Gàidhlig ann neo as.
